Crush Hockey Private and Small Group Sessions

8/8/11 Session One:
Coach Shaun worked with a Comcast Squirt AAA player during a private session.  This particular athlete plays defense and his father requested that he work on his backward skating and small area skill.  During the hour private session, Coach Shaun concentrated transitioning footwork, keeping the players shoulders back and chin-up while transition and making strong pivots.  Coach Shaun also worked on building upon the players stick handling skill and shooting from the defense position.
           Session Two:
Coach Shaun worked with a goaltender that will be attending St. Joseph’s University in the fall as a freshman.  He will be competing with two returning goalies and others for a starting position.  He is a hard working goalie that puts in time both on and off the ice.  Every summer he attends a weeklong goaltending camp in Canada and this summer he found extra ice with Crush Hockey to get additional work.
While working with the goaltender, Coach Shaun also guided instruction for an athlete that will be playing for the Philadelphia Revolution CHA Junior Hockey Team.  Through a variety of shooting drills and skills; both the goaltender and CHA Junior Revolution forward got a great workout.

8/10/11 Session One:
Coach Shaun worked with one Comcast Squirt AAA athlete and two Junior level athletes.  One of the Junior athletes will be playing for the Philadelphia Revolution CHA and the other will be playing for the Cranston Reds in the MJHL.  Although the age gap is clearly a large one, Coach Shaun is able to directly instruct and manage the ice accordingly.
All three players are preparing themselves for the season to begin.  They are working hard to fine-tune their skating and skills prior to the beginning of their conditioning camps.  Together the athletes and Coach Shaun worked through a variety of transition skating and skill drills that require the athletes to control their upper body while their lower body is working.  Following the skating instruction Coach Shaun then worked on defensive zone escapes, breakout passing, neutral-zone passing and blue line skills.  It was a great hour of development!
         Session Two:
Coach Shaun worked with two AA Squirts and one AA Peewee from the Wildcats Ice Hockey Club.  During this session Coach Shaun concentrated on quick footwork, transitioning, puck control, stick handling and shooting.  All three of the players were very attentive and worked hard throughout the entire hour.  I am looking forward to our next session this Thursday at The Rink at Warwick.
